Purple winged eyeshadow tutorial

August 8, 2016 | How to ... & Tutorials | Leave a Comment

Purple Winged eyeshadow

This purple winged eyeshadow tutorial was inspired by something I saw on thewonderforest.com a while back. Her tutorial uses green but I wanted to try it with purple, to compliment my blue eyes. I’ve inserted the original picture tutorial that was posted on thewonderforest.com, so that you can see visuals of the steps and below I’ve written which products I chose to use instead.

I started off with cleansed, lightly moisturised skin and waited a few minutes for the moisturiser to sink in before applying a small amount of NYX Shine Killer Primer. Once again, I waited a few minutes for the primer to settle and then applied my foundation and setting powder.

On my eyelids, I applied e.l.f. Shadow Lock Primer and waited a minute or two for it to dry before applying a nude, flesh coloured eyeshadow from lashline to brow (picture 1 above).

Looking into the mirror at a slight angle to accentuate the crease of my eye, I used Chi Chi gel eyeliner pencil in “Beauty School Drop Out” to draw a line over the crease and winged it out a little. Do the same from the corner of the eye and connect the point of the wing (picture 2).

Using an angled brush with a dark purple eyeshadow on it (I used a dark purple from the Coastal Scents 88 colour Original eyeshadow palette), trace over the other corner of the gel eyeliner line before filling in the outer section of the wing with dark purple eyeshadow (picture 3). Using the angled brush helps to keep your line neat and tidy.

Using an eyeshadow brush, apply a medium purple Coastal Scents eyeshadow shade from the centre of the lid towards the outer corner, blending where the two colours meet and at the crease, to create a colour gradient (picture 4).

Apply a pale pink to the inner corner of the eye and blend it into the medium purple shade (picture 5).

Using the angled brush again, apply a little black eyeshadow onto the point of the wing and blend it into the dark purple eyeshadow to accentuate the wing (picture 6).

Apply the medium purple colour under the lower lashes with some of the darker purple in the outer lower corner (picture 7).

Add a touch of pale pink to the centre of the eyelid before lining the upper lid with black eyeliner (picture 8).

Apply a few coats of mascara to your lashes (picture 9) and fill in your eyebrows, if necessary. Finally, line the waterline (the area above the lashes on the lower lid) with a black pencil eyeliner. If you have small eyes and want to make them appear bigger, use a white eyeliner on the waterline instead of black.

If you’re looking for one product that’s affordabl If you’re looking for one product that’s affordable, gentle, natural and yet a very effective way of removing all your make-up – eyes, face and even waterproof mascara – then you need to try the oil cleansing method.

Oil cleansing is suitable for all skin types, but the ratio of castor oil to vegetable oil will vary depending on your skin type. Using the wrong ratio will result in drying your skin out. Read the full article: https://www.ramblingrose.co.nz/the-oil-cleansing-method/

Did you know that nail techs in New Zealand are no Did you know that nail techs in New Zealand are not legally allowed to cut live skin.

Removing live skin or cutting the eponychium (often mistaken for the cuticle - the thickened skin around the base of the nail where it joins the finger) is classed as minor surgery and can expose clients to increased risk of infection.

I've often had clients ask why it doesn't hurt when I remove dry skin around their nails, and yet when they've had it done elsewhere it's been sore. The difference is I'm only removing dry, dead skin cells. I'm not removing any living tissue or skin still needed by your nails or fingers.

A qualified nail tech should know the difference.
