Mint Julep make-up tutorial

In this step-by-step “Mint Julep” make-up tutorial, I recreate a yellow and green make-up look that was inspired by a Mint Julep cocktail (see picture at the bottom of the post).

Starting with cleansed, lightly moisturised skin, I applied a small amount of Innoxa Pure Silk Skin Primer and waited a few minutes for it to settle on my skin before applying my foundation and setting powder (optional but recommended for those with oily skin).

On my eyelids, I applied NYX HD Eyelid Primer and waited a minute or two for it to dry before applying a nude, flesh coloured eyeshadow from lashline to brow, as a base for the coloured shadows. If you don’t have an eyelid primer, a cream eyeshadow can be used as an eyelid primer instead, just make sure that it’s applied quite thinly.

I’m using the Coastal Scents 88 Colour Original palette for all my colours and it doesn’t have any colour names printed on it so I can’t give you the name of the actual colour used.

Using an eyeshadow brush, apply a bright yellow to the entire eyelid area and blend it well into the crease.

Using a dark green eyeshadow, apply this to the outer corner of the eyelid in a “C” shape (from crease, around the outer corner of the lid and onto the upper lash line) and blend it well into the crease so that there is no harsh line where the colour ends, just a gradual fade from dark green into the flesh coloured base on the outside and from dark green to yellow on the eyelid.

Line the upper lash line with a black pencil liner, gel eyeliner or liquid liner. Use whichever type of eyeliner that you feel most comfortable with. Try to create the line as thin as possible and get it as close to your lashes as you can.

Line the waterline (the area above the lashes on the lower lid) with black pencil eyeliner. If you have small eyes and want to make them appear bigger, use white eyeliner on the waterline instead of black.

Finally, apply a few coats of mascara to your lashes and fill in your brows, if necessary.
