“Green with Envy” Make-up Tutorial

February 22, 2016 | How to ... & Tutorials | Leave a Comment

In this step-by-step “Green with Envy” make-up tutorial, we recreate a look that was inspired by the original make-up style and colours by Pigments & Palettes (see pic on left).

I started off with cleansed, lightly moisturised skin and applied a small amount of Innoxa Pure Silk Skin Primer to my face and neck, waiting a few minutes before applying my foundation and setting powder. It’s best to wait a minute to two between applying products (moisturiser, primer, foundation, powder, etc) as this gives the product time to settle into the skin and will help reduce slip and increase wear.

On my eyelids: All the colours I used are from the Coastal Scents 88 Colour Original palette. The palette doesn’t have colour names or numbers printed on it, so I can’t give you these. The BH Cosmetics palette is the same as the Coastal Scents one, so if you have either of these palettes, you’ll be able to recreate this look (or just use similar shades from a different brand).

I applied NYX HD Eyelid Primer to the entire eyelid area (from lash line to under the eyebrow) to create the perfect base for my eyeshadows and to help make the eyeshadow colours more vibrant. I waited a minute or two for the eyelid primer to dry before applying a pale, lime green eyeshadow from lashline to brow, to create a base for the other colours.

Next, apply a medium green to the entire lid and blend it well into the crease.

Using a dark green, apply this to the outer corner of the lid and blend into the medium green, stopping just before the middle of the lid. Blend the crease again to prevent any harsh lines where the eye shadow ends.

Add a touch of yellow to the centre of the eyelid, blending the edges slightly.

Using an angled brush, line the upper lid with black gel eyeliner (liquid eyeliner could be used instead of gel). I used Bobbi Brown’s Long-wear Gel Eyeliner in “Black Ink”.

Apply a few coats of mascara to your lashes and fill in your brows, if necessary. If you need instructions on how to fill in your brows, read more here.

Finally, line the waterline (the area above the lashes on the lower lid) with black pencil eyeliner. If you have small eyes and want to make them appear bigger, use white eyeliner on the waterline instead of black. Rather use the black eyeliner just underneath you bottom lashes, or in between them.

If you’re looking for one product that’s affordabl If you’re looking for one product that’s affordable, gentle, natural and yet a very effective way of removing all your make-up – eyes, face and even waterproof mascara – then you need to try the oil cleansing method.

Oil cleansing is suitable for all skin types, but the ratio of castor oil to vegetable oil will vary depending on your skin type. Using the wrong ratio will result in drying your skin out. Read the full article: https://www.ramblingrose.co.nz/the-oil-cleansing-method/

Simply not showing up for an appointment is just rude.

A quick text to let me know you're running late or cannot make it will suffice - I often have people on a waitlist, able to fill an appointment at short notice.

Did you know that nail techs in New Zealand are no Did you know that nail techs in New Zealand are not legally allowed to cut live skin.

Removing live skin or cutting the eponychium (often mistaken for the cuticle - the thickened skin around the base of the nail where it joins the finger) is classed as minor surgery and can expose clients to increased risk of infection.

I've often had clients ask why it doesn't hurt when I remove dry skin around their nails, and yet when they've had it done elsewhere it's been sore. The difference is I'm only removing dry, dead skin cells. I'm not removing any living tissue or skin still needed by your nails or fingers.

A qualified nail tech should know the difference.
