I bought two 200ml tubes of Sugar Baby Bronze Bombshell Gradual Tan Moisturiser when I spotted them on a two-for-one sale.
I’d never used Sugar Baby’s Gradual Tan Moisturiser before, but I had used Sugar Baby SunBelievable Self Tanning Mousse, and enjoyed using that. I thought I’d give these a go, seeing as I was running low on Palmer’s Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturiser (my favorite).
The info on the back of the tube says, “This indulgent, super creamy, every so dreamy Shea Butter enriched daily moisturiser delivers a radiant all over golden tan, that you build up day by day. Bronze Bombshell Gradual Tan Moisturiser has been formulated as a daily body cream which builds a gradual tan, so skin is totally hydrated whilst developing a brilliantly bronzed glow. Scented with a luscious tropical aroma, it’s an all over skin indulgence.
Apply directly to desired area, working quickly until fully absorbed. Use sparingly on knees, ankles and elbows. Wash hands immediately after use. For best results, exfoliate first. Allow two hours for tan to fully develop. Reapply for a deeper tan. Wait 10 minutes after application before dressing.”
After reading the splurb and seeing the words “super creamy”, I was really surprised at how runny this self-tanning moisturiser is. It’s literally a liquid packaged in a tube, and its very difficult to control how much comes out of the push top tube.
As for the “luscious tropical aroma”, the yellow lotion has a slightly gag-worthy, heavy, cloying guava scent. Definitely not something I’d have described as luscious. I wish I’d been able to see what this cream looked and smelled like before purchasing it.
The gradual tan is not bad. It’s easy to build up, and is definitely brown (not orange, like some self-tans), so that’s good. I really don’t like the smell though, and that’s a personal thing. There is nothing wrong with the product. I think I’ll go back to using my “old faithful”, being the Palmer’s Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturiser.
