Bumblebees

$14.66

Old golf balls have been cleaned and upcycled into cute bumblebee garden ornaments.

** Sold individually **

I use the original colour of the golf balls for my bumblebees, so the base colour will vary slightly between bees, depending on the brand of yellow golf ball that’s been used.  The face, eyes and stripes are painted on with black acrylic paint before being coated with two coats of clear varnish.  The wings are handmade from blue coated wire and glued on with hot glue.

No two bumblebees are exactly the same, their stripes, wings, and eyes and base colour will all vary slightly.

Use these cute characters to decorate your garden or pot plants. They can be stuck onto the sides or top edges of pot plants with a little Blu-Tack, or simply placed on top of the soil in the pot or in the garden.

Please note that if the bugs get excessively wet (after a few days of continuous rain, or if they sit directly on the soil), the varnish may become a milky-white colour. This is normal and it will revert back to clear as soon as they dry out. If you wish to keep them looking bright and shiny, a fresh coat of clear varnish once a year won’t do them any harm. This is optional. If they are not varnished annually, they may start to lose their shine and have more of a matte look.

Description

Handmade decor, sometimes made from repurposed items, to decorate and use in your garden or home.

All our garden decor bugs and characters are made from used golf balls, so they may have a few ‘scars’ or blemishes on them from where they have been scratched during use.  They may also still have traces of the original branding on the golf ball, and as I like to use the original colour of the ball for my decor, the colour will differ slightly depending on the brand used.

The golf balls have been cleaned, painted with acrylic paint and coated with clear varnish. Please note that if these get excessively wet (after a few days of continuous rain, or if they sit directly on the soil), the varnish may become a milky-white colour. This is normal and it will revert back to clear as soon as they dry out. If you wish to keep them looking bright and shiny, a fresh coat of clear varnish once a year won’t do them any harm. This is optional. If they are not varnished annually, they may start to lose their shine and have more of a matte look.

Other items, like knitted baby blankets and hand-embroidered cushions, cloths, bags, etc. are also available from time to time in our home decor section.
