The thick, creamy consistency of Oasis BB Cream in “The Monroe” (BB Medium) glides on smoothly and blends easily, leaving a matte finish which is great for my oily skin. I tried applying the BB cream with my fingers, a foundation brush and a sponge, and the sponge definitely works the best, leaving an almost airbrushed look and can be built up easily from sheer coverage to full coverage.
The pump action bottle dispenses a small amount at a time, making it perfect to get sheer coverage while reducing wastage and eliminating exposure to air and bacteria. The BB cream lasts all day and washes off easily with a regular, foaming cleanser.
I have a very oily skin, so even though “The Monroe” has a matte finish, I prefer to add a light dusting of translucent powder over the top to set the BB cream and give me a longer lasting matte finish.
The light/medium colour of “The Monroe” suited my skin tone perfectly! The foundation I’d been using before I switched to a BB cream was Revlon Colorstay in Natural Beige (#004), just to give you an idea of a similar colour and my natural skin tone. Oasis Beauty’s BB Creams are available in 3 colours: “The Bardot” (light with mid-coverage and a dewy finish), “The Monroe” (light/medium with full coverage and a matte finish) and “The Hepburn” (medium/dark with full coverage and a matte finish).
I would definitely recommend and use this product again, although the only downside to this product is the cost; it is expensive and might be something that I end up adding to my Christmas or birthday wish list. I’ve since purchased their “Goodie Bag” (a retro-looking make-up bag containing sample sizes of all their products), so that I can try more of Oasis Beauty’s wonderful skincare range.
Available from selected pharmacies and online. See their website for a list of stockists.
Update: Oasis Beauty have since rebranded or renamed their BB creams.
“The Bardot” is now called BB Light
“The Monroe” is now called BB Medium
“The Hepburn” is now called BB Dark
The packaging has changed slightly too. BB creams are no longer packaged in round plastic pump-action bottles but now come in 50ml plastic tubes with a push style flip top that I find to be quite messy. The clear protective lid is large enough for the tube to stand upright and the flexible plastic tube definitely takes up less space in a make-up bag.
