I have used many peel off masks over the years, some were wonderful and some were utterly awful, but Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel Off Mask falls into the mid-range category for me.
Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel Off Mask gently peels away dead skin while cleaning, purifying and leaving your skin feeling fresh and radiant. The runny gel comes in a sachet with a tear-off corner which makes it really difficult to apply. You really need three hands for this job; one to hold the base of the sachet, one to squeeze the gel up into the corner and a third to catch the gel and apply it to the face!
Thankfully, I had an empty cosmetic tub on hand and just squeezed the contents of the sachet into that before applying it to my face. I find that there is sufficient product in the sachet for two uses, as the gel tends to be thicker in patches if all of gel is applied at once and those thicker parts don’t dry in the recommended 15-20 minutes.
The picture on the sachet deceived me slightly and I was expecting the gel to be this lovely opaque lavender colour with an awesome fruity smell. Instead, it was a clear pomegranate colour with a slightly sweet smell.
The mask did take quite a while to dry, as the first time I used it I applied too much on my cheeks and had to wait almost half an hour for it to dry completely before peeling it off. The next time I used it, I applied half a sachet and used a foundation brush to apply it. The result from using the foundation brush was a much more even and thin layer that dried perfectly.
Once completely dry, the mask peels off easily without any pain. If it’s not completely dry, it does hurt a little while peeling it off, so leave it on until it’s absolutely dry. The way I tell if it’s perfectly dry, is to start pulling faces (it’s good for a giggle too!). If the mask starts to peel off and move on its own without any help from my hands, it’s dry enough to come off. Also, if you lightly run your fingers over your cheeks, the mask should feel very similar to paper and not be sticky, tacky or shiny.
When you’re ready to peel it off, start at the edges and work inwards towards your nose. The mask should come off in one whole piece.
Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel Off Mask is available from The Warehouse, selected pharmacies and online.
