Update: As of June 2019, Ethique began the process of reformulating all of their bars, so the new bar’s formula may be quite different to the old Sweet Orange & Vanilla Creme bar that I reviewed here.
A sample of Ethique’s Sweet Orange & Vanilla Creme Body Wash Bar was included in the Body Sampler set that I bought (it also included samples of their Coconut & Lime Butter Block, among others). I really liked the smell of this body wash bar. According to Ethique’s description, their “créme bodywash bar is designed specifically for those of you with sensitive skin, or those who just want a super hydrating bodywash. They produce a creamy, low bubble lather and contain loads of creamed coconut butter and a little clay to get you clean, without drying you out.”
Unfortunately, the little heart-shaped sample bar was really difficult to use and literally just crumbled the first time I used it, so I only got one use out of this. Yes, it does produce minimal foam, even on a shower pouf, but it does leave skin feeling hydrated and soft, and the scent is just divine! The crumbly, difficult-to-use nature of this creme body wash sample bar has put me off purchasing a full sized bar, and I do prefer body washes that lather up a bit more.
Overall, from my very limited use, I feel that this is not a bad product, it smells really nice and did not dry out my skin. So, if you prefer creme body washes over foaming body washes, I’d suggest that you give this a try for yourself before you decide whether or not this one is for you, and Ethique’s sample boxes are a great way to try their products. The sample boxes are available in three themed boxes: body, hair, or face.
Ethique products are available online or from selected Life Pharmacies, and they’re free from parabens, petroleum by-products, palm oil (and its derivatives), synthetic fragrances, formaldehyde donors and other nasty ingredients. Their products are also plastic free, plant-based and vegan, fairtrade and cruelty free.
