Ethique Glow Solid Deodorant in “Lavender & Vanilla” is a solid bar of natural deodorant, that comes packaged in a compostable cardboard box. Ethique (pronounced Eh-tique) is the French word for ‘ethical’ and all of their products come in solid bars (including their shampoo’s and body butters), but don’t be put off by this, as the solid bars last up to six times longer than their liquid or cream equivalents.
Having tried No3’s Underbalm, a natural deodorant in paste form that really does work, I was really keen to give this solid bar a try. Ethique Glow Solid Deodorant is suitable for all skin types, although the Lavender & Vanilla scent may seem a little too ‘girly’ for men to use, as it has a subtle but fairly sweet smell, but Ethique do have another variant being Spearmint & Lime, which may be a little more unisex. Glow Solid Deodorant is made without aluminum and baking soda (like some other natural deodorants on the market), and instead contains aloe vera, bamboo and yeast, horsetail and sage extract, all of which help to lessen sweating and prevent body odour.
To use the solid bar, simply rub it onto clean, dry armpits (directly after bathing or showering), as well as before exercise, if needed. This natural deodorant really does work, and best of all, the scent is subtle enough that it doesn’t compete with perfumes or fragrances, and it seems to help keep often neglected armpit skin feeling moisturized, as well as protected and free from unwanted odours.
I’d definitely recommend this natural deodorant, and I have repurchased a bar for myself a few times now. So, if you’re keen to try it first, without committing to a full sized bar, a sample of this is in the Ethique Body Sampler box, which contains little heart-shaped sample sizes of the following products: Sweet Orange & Vanilla Creme Body Wash Bar, Lime & Ginger Body Polish (scrub), Glow Solid Deodorant in Lavender & Vanilla, Coconut & Lime Body Butter Block, and a randomly selected foaming body wash bar.
Ethique products are available online or from selected Life Pharmacies.
Update: As of June 2019, Ethique began the process of reformulating all of their bars, so the new bar’s formula may be quite different to the old one that I reviewed above.
